Introduction: In 1963 when Alaskan communities decided which boroughs and forms of governments would be used across the state of Alaska. Some Alaskans wanted an overarching South Central Alaska borough, some wanted no government at all while others wanted small local government. During this time Chugiak-Eagle River was separated from the surrounding boroughs of Anchorage and the Mat-Su districts. This article discusses this moment of history.
